Certified Tutor
I am passionate about helping students because I believe education is a powerful tool for personal growth and creativity. Through my experience assisting in art classes, I have enjoyed guiding students in discovering their strengths and talents. By teaching foundational skills and refining techniques, I help students unlock their potential and passion for the visual arts, skills that will stay with them long after the class ends.
I graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) with a Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design, a minor in Music and Culture, and I am considering pursuing a Master's in Art History. My journey in fine art began in 9th grade, and over the years, I have gained a deeper understanding of art history while exploring various artistic techniques, particularly drawing and painting. I am always expanding my knowledge by exploring other fields, such as fashion technical design, which broadens the insights I bring into my tutoring.
I tutor in subjects including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art, focusing on essential skills like perspective, color theory, and composition. I love helping students learn to observe, understand, and render different forms and subjects, all while developing a deeper connection with their work and enhancing their technical abilities.
My teaching philosophy is centered on the idea that art is about exploration and experimentation. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to take creative risks and learn from their mistakes. My tutoring style is hands-on and interactive, guiding students to engage directly with materials and techniques while I offer feedback. I believe in empowering students to take the lead when they are ready, as it helps build confidence and perseverance. Above all, I emphasize patience, self-reflection, and the understanding that there is no "wrong" in art.
Outside of the art world, I enjoy visiting museums and galleries and have a deep appreciation for music, especially its influence on culture and media. I'm also a fan of musical theater and often listen to cast recordings when I can't attend a show. I believe immersing myself in all forms of art keeps me connected to both the world and my own creativity.
