The first thing we did was go over the quiz she had taken on the topics I had tested her on for the prior session. I then went over quadratic equations in-depth with her.

Tutoring review by Michelle in St. John, IN
The student is still working with fractions; she is currently using them with the multiplication and division operations. She reviewed multiplying by the reciprocal of a fraction when it is a division operation. We reviewed all the phonics worked on to this date: making plurals, short vowel sounds, long vowel with consonant and a silent e, double consonant followed by -le endings, -ence/ance ending words, and long vowel sound with double vowels words. She read aloud from a book and identified these types of words.

We went over a diagnostic exam. The student did very well, scoring close to her personal best. She still has 1 section to go, which we will do at our next session. She has shown a lot of improvement and is on pace to score 100 points higher than her previous best.

Tutoring review by Kathryn in St. John, IN
We went over rational expressions - solving them, determining asymptotes, intercepts and extraneous solutions, and then graphing them. We then went over a few word problems. We also talked about some ways to avoid simple mistakes when solving equations, including making sure to always keep track of positive/negative signs, and how to confirm answers are correct by going back to the original equation. We used some worksheets the student had from her class as well as some that I brought with and left for her to work on. She has an exam tomorrow so we focused on the material that was going to be on the exam. She had a good basic understanding of the material before we started and I think we were able to address the concepts that she was unsure on. She had a great attitude and was a pleasure to work with.

Tutoring review by Usama in St. John, IN
I taught the student how to solve quadratic equations through factoring and through the quadratic formula, the concept of discriminant and the significance of it while solving quadratic equations, and how to represent a quadratic equation graphically. In the end, he solved a question that tested all these concepts. He is improving in building his Math concepts, however he is still making small mistakes while solving problems. He needs to be more attentive when solving questions and recheck every step after doing it. Overall, he has a very positive attitude towards learning and wants to improve himself.

Tutoring review by Lisa in St. John, IN
The student and I worked on Module 10.5, Exponential Functions and 11.2, Comparing Linear and Exponential Functions. We also worked on the extra credit worksheets for 11.2. She likes these sections because they involve real life situations. She has a quiz on Monday and a test on Friday. She feels very comfortable with the material, so I believe she will do very well.
