We discussed a few problems involving frequency distributions and the normal distribution, I worked the problems out with the student on the Math board and he has a good understanding of them. He is going to work some problems from his next class in preparation for our next session.

We continue to work on sections 9.1-9.6 in preparation for the upcoming test (now rescheduled to Friday). The student is doing fine but needs to remember the details of the various convergent tests better so he can more quickly recall and apply them.

We started by going over major concepts of geometry, then we went back to discussing theorems and postulates. We also covered parallel lines and the way groups of lines and angles relate. The student seems like she has a good grasp of things so far. I tried to explain certain strategies when approaching any math problem (writing down all the information that is given, drawing diagrams, etc.) and we got a good amount done. We talked about the way we're going to structure our sessions from now on: cover questions/concerns from the past week, work through practice problems to solidify understanding, and then prepare for next week's topics. I'm excited to keep working together, she's a bright girl!

Today, we went over some pretty tricky problems where we had to translate a shape a certain number of degrees from the origin or another specified point and also follow directions as to whether we had to move it clockwise or counterclockwise. I plan on working with her again on this material on Monday.

Tonight we worked on the student's geography again. He was able to finish another portion of an assignment that is past due. He had a little trouble being motivated initially, but halfway through the session he was working harder and was able to complete the assignment. He will need to get assistance from someone at school who can take the time to sit down with him and show him how to navigate the student online system as well as ensuring he has access to all of the student websites utilized during school.
