Tutoring review by Goke in Fayetteville, NY
We covered place value of whole numbers, collecting data, measures of central tendency/ variability, line plots, and adding multi-digit numbers. The student performed well on all of the concepts covered in today's session. She displayed keen abilities as we reviewed the material. Her accuracy indicates a solid readiness for 4th grade mathematics. Today's session was extremely productive.

Today's session was a first session for the student in chemistry. We went over the different phases of matter and how some elements can exist in many phases while others are limited to just one or two. We also went over the potential vs kinetic energy and how to distinguish one from the other. Finally, we went over the different ways to manipulate conversion formulas as needed for different problems.

The student and I worked on a review sheet that he was given on transformations. We worked on translations, dilations, and reflections. Specifically, we found the formula for a transformation or the image/ preimage given a formula. He had a pretty good grasp on this topic. We also introduced the topic of Boolean expressions (logic).

The student and I went over the math section of practice test 4 today. He missed a couple of problems dealing with quadratic equations that he should have FOILed, so I think those are a topic to watch out for. He should also watch out for coordinate geometry problems and plane geometry problems. Although he knows the material, he is having some trouble applying that knowledge to the questions, and I'd like to figure out where in the process is most difficult for him. I also highly encourage him to slow down and not get too psyched out about the time he has left. He is still improving in every section of the test, and I'm impressed by his output. Time seems to be his biggest issue at the moment, and if he keeps practicing with timed tests, he will get more comfortable with it. I look forward to seeing him next week!

Tutoring review by Brett in Fayetteville, NY
We discussed the essay at length and methods of constructed theses and identifying supporting evidence. We finished the vocabulary list and finished with some math work on slope. The student should feel good about the work he's done during our sessions and about his new skills to take these tests over the next couple of weeks.

Tutoring review by Piper in Fayetteville, NY
The student and I covered proofs and reviewed her homework for the week. She told me she was worried about an upcoming quiz, so we went over some of those topics, and I gave her some study tips. She was very knowledgeable, and even though she struggled a little bit, she was able to recognize her mistakes once I pointed them out. She also understood how to fix them, which is important in retaining the information. Moving forward, she should just practice, practice, practice on more proofs so the process becomes comfortable.
