Tutoring review by Patrick in Dublin, CA
We continued to cover conic sections: hyperbolas, ellipses, circles, and parabolas. We also focused on the finding the major and minor axes, vertices, and focuses of these functions. The student was not struggling; he had a great grasp on the material and a positive attitude. I did include some strategies on finding the standard form of some of the sections. I asked him to look through the chapter review.

Tutoring review by Joseph in Dublin, CA
The student's next unit has begun with a lesson on making and filling in Venn diagrams, including using them to find probability. He had little trouble constructing the diagrams, especially after we saw a few variations, but it took a little extra explanation before he understood how to properly interpret probability from them.

Tutoring review by Michael in Dublin, CA
In this session, the student and I reviewed the material that she had in a practice test so that she would be more ready for the real upcoming test on Thursday. This material covered quadratic equations, linear equations, factoring, completing the square, and making sense of word problems with algebraic methods. Word problems had previously been the area that she dreaded most, but she did very well in working through these ones. We got through all fifty problems without any major hitches, and we will continue studying Wednesday. I am very confident that she will excel on the upcoming final.

Tutoring review by Kristof-Pierre in Dublin, CA
The student had completed most of a worksheet his teacher had handed out. It covered graphing and types of equations- point-slope, slope intercept, and standard form. He had little trouble with most of this, and most mistakes were avoidable errors. He did have some trouble with word problems though. We will have to gauge to what extent these will be in his class. He had a bit more trouble with some of the concepts. We practiced standard form, domain and range, and word problems. We will review these again in our next session.

Tutoring review by Kendall in Dublin, CA
Today the student showed me a few things that he wanted to review, both from his geometry class this year and from algebra last year. He said that he didn't remember learning the equations for the area and circumference of circles, so I went over the equations with him and we did a variety of problems to make sure he could use the equations in different ways. Once he felt comfortable with that, we moved on to the Pythagorean theorem, which he hadn't understood when it was on a test recently. I showed him how it could be used to find side lengths of right triangles, including on a coordinate plane. I've really enjoyed working with him, and I wish him all the best with the rest of the school year!

Tutoring review by Zunaira in Dublin, CA
We reviewed metabolism (glycolysis, citric acid cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation) and photosynthesis for an exam. The student had a good handle of the concepts and understood the reactions involved in each step.
