My name is Heather. I grew up in Calhoun, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in Anthropology in 2007. At UGA, I studied abroad in Peru, New Zealand, Fiji, and Costa Rica. I love to travel and have been to 20 countries on six continents. Next Fall, I plan to go back to school for a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology at Emory. I am an avid tennis player and a budding cook.

I have worked with a wide range of students and enjoyed each experience. I tutored first graders in an after school program for Refugee Resettlement and Immigration Services of Atlanta. As a teaching assistant for a study abroad program in tropical field ecology, I regularly worked one-on-one with college students to review research projects, statistics, and any concepts covered in class. In addition to these more formal experiences, I have always been willing and eager to help friends to understand the material taught in my classes. I found that it helped them and me. If I could teach someone else, then I really understood the concepts myself. All of these experiences taught me that people learn differently and see concepts from different perspectives. I value this diversity of thought and look forward to helping students to find the perspective that works best for them.
