Are you a parent concerned because your child is struggling with English and writing, or preparing for the AP English Exam? I have tutored English for over seven years, and specialize in helping students from middle school to graduate school drastically improve their writing.
I received my Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri's School of Law, I am a member of the Missouri bar, and I'm presently a Presidential Management Fellow working for the federal government in DC. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology.
I love writing, but I understand that it is not easy because it was not always easy for me. In high school and college, I often meandered my way through writing assignments and struggled with writer’s block. My experiences in law school and in legal practice, however, forced me to drastically change the process I had always used to write. I now use the techniques I developed to help others improve the way they approach the writing process. In my final year of law school, I also served as the Managing Editor of an internationally-distributed law journal, editing submissions by both professors and students and coaching authors to improve articles.
I love the writing process and would welcome the opportunity to work with you or your child to change the way you write. I enjoy motivating students to learn and grow; I don’t believe in passive busywork or grammar worksheets. When I tutor, my aim is to keep my students engaged 100% of the time. I use visuals, brainstorming games, and rewards to help my students get the most out of each lesson. In sum, my goal is to try to change the way my students learn to write, leaving them with writing skills and methods they can continue to use long after they no longer need my tutoring.
