Hello! I am a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a focus in math. I tutor elementary math, reading, writing and prepare children for placement tests. I especially love to teach math, helping students understand the fundamentals so they can understand more advanced concepts.
I started tutoring over 12 years ago during college with America Reads where I earned "Outstanding Mentor." While my tutees scores vastly improve, I am concerned about the child's total success. I not only seek to give them the right tools to succeed but also encourage them to believe that when they try, they can improve and succeed. An example of my work includes a student who spoke English as a second language and also had special needs. As I worked with him daily, his reading level increased ten levels and his math scores went from below average to earning over 80% in his final math testing that year.
Trekking in Nepal with my husband was a highlight of 2014 and rescuing my first dog is something I look forward to in 2015. I also love to sing and cook.
