I recently finished my Ph.D. at the University of Maryland, College Park in education policy with an emphasis on global education. I have a master's in education focusing on college student development and advising from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where I was the study abroad coordinator for ten years. My bachelor's degree is in English and German from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. I have traveled to over 30 countries, studied abroad in Germany and South Africa, made friends with people from at least 30 more countries, and continue to advocate for education and human rights around the world. I am available to tutor emerging and struggling readers at all levels. I love children's literature and books for young adults. At the University of Maryland, I studied critical literacy and multicultural literature and also taught a course on choosing children's literature to undergraduate education majors. I enjoy the challenge of finding great reading material that captures the interest of even the most reluctant readers. I have worked on college campuses in a variety of roles for most of my adult life. I am an excellent resource for researching academic programs and institutions. I have a deep understanding of the workings of college admissions and the admissions essay writing process. I am also a highly skilled writer and have worked with many high school, undergraduate, and graduate students on expository writing skills. I have an excellent eye for detail and I am highly organizedskills that I have taught to many others. I also utilize creative activities to stimulate ideas and get past blocks. My teaching style is informal with a healthy dose of humor. My favorite television show is Phineas & Ferb.
