Emeric: La Grange tutor

Certified Tutor

My name is Emeric and I recently graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The Ohio State University Honors College with a B.S. in biochemistry. While in college, I competed for the varsity gymnastics team, which taught me excellent time management skills, which I try to share with all of my students.

In high school, I was a National Merit Finalist based off PSAT scores and scored better than 95th percentile on the SAT. I also scored better than 90th percentile on MCAT with a perfect score in the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section. I am very skilled at tutoring the mathematics and verbal section of the SAT, as well as the Physical and Chemical, CARS and Bio and Biochem sections of the MCAT. I also love teaching chemistry, biochemistry and biology at the highschool, AP or college level.

I am currently working in a clinical research position at a Nationwide Children's hospital, and, as such, really love to work with kids as well on anything from reading to math and science.

Thanks you so much for the consideration!

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe the first step to being a good teacher is preparing enough beforehand to be an absolute expert on the material. I always do my best to master the material such that I can approach each problem or issue from multiple angles so I can find one that works for my students.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Even before the first session, I would make sure I had a solid idea of what exactly my student is struggling on. So, in the first session, I would be focused on trying to find out why the student is struggling.
