James: Fairfield tutor
Certified Tutor
An education empowers people to create meaningful lives, appreciate the cultures and universe around them, and solve the problems and challenges inherent to every life. Without teachers the human race would simply start from the beginning with every new generation, and progress would remain a distant notion even to the most brilliant minds. As a tutor it is my job to help you, as an individual, move forward and achieve your definition of progress.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that education empowers people to create the lives they desire, regardless of status or circumstance. It is the teacher's responsibility to activate that power through imagination, excellence, and empathy.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Ask questions that reveal the student's goals, passions, and learning profile.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Teach the student to think critically, organize information in their thoughts, and use logic to solve problems through creative ideas and insights.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Devise a learning strategy that integrates a student's passions and interests with their academic goals.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Return to the beginning of the lesson and carefully proceed through it until the specific skill or concept that poses challenges is identified. Use that information to create another pathway to learning the information.
