I'm currently a second year graduate student in school psychology. A school psychologist's main role is to support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. I have been trained in extensively in various academic and behavioral interventions. Outside of my training, I also have several years' experience volunteering as a tutor, focusing mainly on building students' reading and writing skills. I received my undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Spanish literature and spent a semester studying abroad in Spain. I know that school is not always an enjoyable experience for students, so in my tutoring approach I try to create a positive environment that helps students feel empowered in their learning. In addition the subject at hand, it's also vital to equip students with the problem-solving skills they can use throughout their academic career.
