Hello!
I am currently a middle school science teacher. Prior to this, I taught science for six years at Convent of the Sacred Heart, a Girls school in Greenwich, CT. I have a Master's degree in Environmental Conservation Education and have taught elementary and middle school science as a substitute teacher in Greenwich. I have a passion for teaching because the transformation students make from one grade to the next is quite significant and praiseworthy for students, their families, and myself. My students have benefitted from the inquiry-based lessons that helps to pique student curiosity as well as being interactive. Furthermore, it builds student understanding of the world through scientific inquiry. I would describe myself as an enthusiastic, hardworking, and determined person. My philosophy of teaching and learning is to create a learning environment in which students feel safe and comfortable, and where expectations of teamwork and responsibilities for independent work are consistent and clear. It is important to me that students feel happy, motivated and engaged in my classroom. Also, I believe that all children can learn. Not only do children learn as individuals, but children also work, play and learn together. I believe that a school should be a team, where we can all learn from and celebrate one another.
In addition, I believe with my experience of teaching and my ongoing commitment to education, I would be an excellent tutor for your student. Over my years of teaching, I have displayed essential qualities of passion, commitment, professionalism, excellent work ethic and support to peers and students that make me a superb tutor.
