Hello! My name is Reid Johnson, and I am a secondary science teacher and tutor. I have 3+ years of experience tutoring, both in-person and online. My tutoring experiences have ranged from in-person tutoring at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Dept. of Intercollegiate Athletics, to a variety of online platforms (e.g. School Tutoring Academy Online). I am a content expert in all fields of biology (especially biochemistry, molecular biology, evolutionary theory, physiology, genetics, and ecology), high school general and AP chemistry, high school physics, all biomedical topics, International Baccalaureate science, and the SAT.

My studies have taken me from Bronze Tablet + summa cum laude honors at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, to Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, to DePaul University's Graduate College of Education (MEd Secondary Science Education). An ACT composite of 29, MCAT composite of 33, and USMLE Step 1 score of 238 (all well above national averages) are illustrative of my academic success.

I have 1.5 years of classroom teaching experience in Chicago Public Schools, having taught regular biology, honors biology, and International Baccalaureate biology to students in an urban setting. My unique mix of rigorous academics, extensive tutoring experience, and solo classroom teaching experience make me a great fit to help your child in anything from biology to physical sciences to the SAT. While teaching IB Biology for the last year at Hansberry College Prep on Chicago's Southside, I was able to hone my skills in unpacking difficult scientific topics in an approachable and relevant manner for students. I was central in vertically aligning the science department curriculum at Hansberry, and have become an expert on SAT strategies, analysis, etc. during this time.
