Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of both Howard University (undergraduate) and Oral Roberts University (graduate). I received my Master of Arts in Practical Theology with a focus on advanced level research, writing, and religious studies. Moreover, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a focus on legal and technical research/writing and certifications in Community Development and Nonprofit Management receiving extensive training in grant writing. Since graduation, I have worked in the education and nonprofit industries for 15 years in various roles including elementary/secondary/college Tutor and Teacher with AmeriCorps, Communities In Schools, Junior Achievement, Vernon College, and school districts across four states (DC, MS, TX, and OK). While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I specialize in those related to English. I love using real world and pop culture examples to explain complex literary concepts to students making them easy to understand. I tutor because I love seeing the "light bulb turn on with students (moments of epiphany when students understand content they previously struggled with)." It is through getting a quality education that students are able to chart their destinies, and I get passion and fulfillment in aiding this process. Outside of tutoring, I am a Playwright, Actor, and Performing Artist.
