I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am a sophomore at Vanderbilt University, working towards a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience with intended minors in Chemistry, South Asian Language and Culture, and Medicine, Health, and Society. Since high school, I have been heavily invested in STEM tutoring at local Boys and Girls clubs. Throughout my first year at Vanderbilt, I remained involved in the tutoring scene via a reading enrichment program (Page by Page) for local elementary students and a neuroscience education program (InterAxon) for middle school students for which I was the curriculum coordinator. Since the quarantine in response to COVID-19 was issued across the US, I have strived to continue my volunteering efforts through EduMate NYC, a non-profit tutoring organization which focuses on providing academic support to K-12 students in the NYC area who are from low-income and/or minority backgrounds. I currently volunteer for the organization as a tutor and Equity and Accessibility Coordinator. I strongly believe that every student deserves equal and fair access to educational support systems, and I constantly strive to make this possible. Education is critical in the making of successful leaders in this world, and I have been wholeheartedly committed to making this education both enriched and accessible. While I tutor a very broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about math and science. Furthermore, guiding struggling students through the daunting examination that is standardized testing is something I find fulfilling. In my tutoring experience, I have found that we make significant tangible improvements while gaining skills that can be applied in other courses and the real world.
