Certified Tutor

I received all three of my degrees from Texas A&M University. I received my Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Curriculum & Instruction, specializing in Mathematics Education. I received my Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Educational Psychology, specializing in Gifted and Talented education. I received my Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, specializing in Mathematics Education. I taught elementary and middle school for 15 years in Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Colorado before earning my Ph.D. For the past 14 years, I have been a professor in an elementary education program at a Midwest university teaching a mathematics methods course to junior level preservice teachers. I am passionate about teaching elementary and middle school content that engages students to learn and become confident in their ability to grow and develop academically. As an elementary teacher, I taught all four content areas (math, language arts, science, and social studies) and as a middle school teacher, I taught mathematics. I follow the Constructivist philosophy of learning that believes all students are able to construct and develop their learning. My goal in teaching students is to align my teaching style with my students' learning style through differentiation, scaffolding, formative assessment, and positive reinforcement. I love to learn and I love to teach!
