Certified Tutor

In my career as an educator and writing coach, both at the university level and in the K-12 classroom, I have found success, and deep meaning, in working with students to achieve their goals and exceed their own expectations. Guiding, supporting, and empowering student success has been the highlight of my career.

I am a currently a certified English teacher and previously worked as a university instructor in philosophy (including core writing courses). I also spent a year and a half as a university research fellow in the humanities. In addition to classroom teaching and research, I have experience with test prep and coaching student essay writing for successful private and independent school applications. I also have experience and strength in analytical skills and critical thinking instruction.

I hold a Master's degree in Teaching English, as well as a PhD and MA in philosophy (from the University of New Mexico and Boston University, respectively).

My interests include taking walks, listening to and learning about all types of music (especially rock, jazz, and classical), and journaling. I enjoy coffee, books and poems of all kinds, and watching and playing hockey with my young son.
