What is your teaching philosophy?
A good teacher not only helps a student learn new information, but helps the student reach a point at which they can process information and acquire knowledge independently.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would begin by asking the student what they already know about the subject I am working with them on, and how they prefer to review new information (i.e. visually, working through problems, etc.). I would then go through the material the student found challenging, and try to present it to them in a way that allows them to make connections between what they already know and what they are trying to learn.
