Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Michael in Cambridge
We spent most of the session reviewing the student's current pre-calc session, which deals with graphing trigonometric functions. We started talking about vertical and horizontal shifts of trig functions, vertical stretches, and horizontal stretches (changes in period of the function). We spent time discussing how to graph more complex trig functions (such as cosecant and secant) and how to correctly pick out points to plot these functions with. From there we discussed reference angles then rotational motion, and did some practice problems that related angular velocity to linear velocity. Lastly we touched on her physics homework, dealing with free-body diagrams and forces.
