The student is doing a good job of retaining information from session to session. We reviewed our last session and she had retained the information. She did an especially good job today remembering her divisibility rules!

Today we worked on the review for the student's test on Friday. We covered exponents and logarithmic functions, reviewed how to evaluate and simplify said functions. We also covered statistical data including mean, median, mode, and range; practiced creating and evaluating histograms, box-and-whisker plots, and stem-and-leaf plots. Also went over compounded interest formula, inverse functions of exponents and logarithms, as well as normal distributions and how data affects its standard deviation.

The student was preparing for a test covering radians, the unit circle and arc-sine functions. She had a lot of sine and cosine values memorized but I taught her how to figure out angle measurements by going around the unit circle in increments of pi/6 or pi/4. She really liked this trick. She seems to have a good handle on sine and cosine graphs, as well, although we will lend extra focus on the period calculation. Overall, it was a great session.

Tutoring review by Saloni in Del City, OK
The student worked on his math homework. He is still struggling to understand that he needs to show his work in order to practice the material being tested. I left him with extra practice from some practice questions we have from the textbook.

Tutoring review by Nicholas in Del City, OK
The student and I worked together to prepare for an exam. We went over triangle inequalities and proportions. I explained to him that before putting numbers into a proportions problem, he should be sure of the proportion he's setting up. By following these steps, he can guarantee success: 1. Pick the 2 similar figures, 2. Pick a ratio using known quantities, 3. Find the corresponding ratio involving the unknown, and 4. Solve the unknown. We also discussed inverses and contrapositives. I explained these logic structures using the following example: If it is raining, then there are clouds outside. Inverse: If it is NOT raining, then there are NOT clouds outside. Contrapositive: If there are NOT clouds outside, then it is NOT raining. We do not change the topics we are discussing, we just slip the word NOT in front of them according to the aforementioned rules.

Tutoring review by Adam in Del City, OK
The student and I reviewed his homework sheet, which involved some very simple fraction finding. He zoomed through it and did very well without the need of any assistance. Then, we moved on to some facilitated multiplication and division of fractions, getting him a little ahead of the game. He was confused at first, but once he caught on, he was absolutely thrilled to have learned something new and exciting. It was wonderful to see him so excited about math!
