Tutoring review by Andrea in Little Silver, NJ
In my first session with the student, we talked about what she is looking to get from our tutoring sessions. She stated that this is her first and only math class in college, and that she wants someone to work through problems to make sure that she understands what is going on. She has a test on Friday, so we began by looking at the practice test to see what type of problems would be on it. We worked through practice problems with the point-slope formula. She picked up the material very quickly. She developed a good understanding of how to find the formula of a line using two points, a point and a slope, and a point and a parallel or perpendicular line. Other topics on her practice test included finding derivatives and calculating interest, which we will review at our next session. Before then, she will continue to work on her homework assignments and complete the practice test.

Tutoring review by Steven in Little Silver, NJ
We reviewed Algebra 1 concepts that the student had learned throughout the year. Specifically, we went over the process of solving two equations with two unknown variables through the process of finding a common multiple between the two equations and then subtracting the equations in order to solve for the unknown variables. We also went over several word problems, graphing inequalities, finding slope, and using slope and coordinates to derive an equation. The student's attitude was very positive and she was engaged in the work throughout the session.

Worked with the student on preparing for his test on polynomials, factoring, and graphing them. He needed extra help with knowing how to graph them by finding the vertex and knowing how to use the quadratic formula, but he has it down now.

Tutoring review by Ari in Little Silver, NJ
During this session we went over HTML part 2 and finished talking about most of HTML, specifically: forms, definition lists, links, images, divs, spans and all of the elements that you would typically find inside of a form element. The student learned this information very well and also asked very good questions. She seemed to understand the material and master it quickly. She has a great attitude towards this information and seems curious and excited to learn more. Now that she knows the fundamentals of HTML, we can move onto CSS and begin talking about styling everything. She will definitely enjoy this as it will appeal to her artistic side.

Tutoring review by Krystal in Little Silver, NJ
Tonight, we continued with polyatomic ions and ionic compounds. The student has a Mastery Quiz tomorrow and a Unit Test. We also reviewed definition and examples of ionic compounds. We also discussed properties of metals and salts. I had her complete her ionic compounds on note cards with the charges. I also gave her a couple of worksheets to practice. I noticed that she gets the problems correct on paper but incorrect on the computer. So I suggested that she write the answer on paper 1st, then input it into the computer.
