The student is definitely making improvement. Today we started our studies on math. She did really well in geometry, which is impressive (most people don't remember any of it!).
We also went over her English practice exam. She did much better! I don't have the exact score in front of me, but I think she got around a 29? It was really great, either way.

The student and I met for our first session to prepare him for the June SAT. We reviewed the Critical Reading sections of his practice test. We focused on new test strategies and helpful tricks. He needs to review vocabulary and to practice focusing on exactly what the question is asking.

The session consisted of a review of Chapter 7, specifically volumes by cylindrical shells and arc length. The student completed the homework with greater independence and understanding. Upon completing Chapter 7, the session focused on sequences, the first topic of Chapter 8. With a little help the student completed the homework with greater confidence and efficiency.

The student starts school today and found out he will be in Algebra, so he reviewed exponential rules, radicals, perfect squares and cubes, prime numbers, prime factorization, slope-intercept linear equations, graphing, etc.

Conducted via online video chat; focused on various types of imperatives, as well as an introduction to hortatory subjunctives and the rule for forming the present subjunctive. He completed short sentences in Latin to practice these new topics

Today I helped the client with some homework covering factoring. The main topic was factoring by grouping. She already had a fair understanding of how to do it, but with some explanation she got very good at it. We also covered the factor theorem which involves synthetic division. She felt comfortable with synthetic division, but said she didn't understand the factor theorem. After demonstrating that the factor theorem is just an application of synthetic division, she quickly understood. The student did well on her midterm, scoring an 85, which brought her grade up. I feel she will only improve.
