Today, we went over what the student was working on for the past week, including the homework that I issued him. We touched on the unit circle, continuity, differentiability, what he got wrong on the last quiz, and special rules for limits. We will meet again on Wednesday.

The student is gaining a good stride in solving problems now, he can readily solve medium level questions without much aid. Today we went over all of chapter 5, covering gas dynamics, gas laws and their applications, kinetic molecular gas theory and paying special attention to circumstances where their postulates collapse. We also began chapter 6 of thermochemistry. We covered endothermic and exothermic reactions, and general systematic energy questions involving heat and work. Redox reactions were a concern for him but he seems to know the material well, so he should do fine on a test.

First, we checked over his retake homework packet. He had to complete this to retake his test grade in math. Most questions needed to be solved using multi-step. We discussed some strategies that could help with those types of problems. Additionally, we worked on a difficult math problem that is used at the end of every test. Then, we prepared for his English quiz. They are diagraming sentences. I gave him a few examples and we worked through how to diagram each one.

Today we reviewed multiplying binomials using the FOIL method. We also covered multiplying a polynomial by a binomial using the Distributive property. All material for her quiz on Wednesday was covered and reviewed.

The student is really impressed me with her progress. For the most part, she's remembering the concepts well, but once in a while she still forgets or gets bogged down in the simple algebra. She's significantly improved with the reading, however, after a few slight adjustments with the way she approaches the passages. Her grammar is also stellar. We'll continue to focus on math for the next session, with a broad review for the final.

We discussed the student's performance on her practice math test. We checked her work on practice questions for ELA and social studies. We discussed basic social studies facts that she should memorize for the test.
