The student studied her Health. We discussed in detail the components of nutrition such as fats, proteins, and minerals. She also reviewed the functions of Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K. This was a great lesson since it educates on how to make healthy food choices.

The student has her geometry final tomorrow. She has made great strides and although she is still struggling with some concepts, her ability to recall formulas and understand how to apply them has grown considerably in the past few weeks. She might really surprise herself. Hopefully we can work some this summer to help establish a foundation for her in math and by filling in current gaps, we will be able to make her more knowledgeable and therefore, more confident in her approach to math.

The student is continuing to prepare for her final exam. She has made a lot of progress reviewing material from the first exam. This includes all of the following reactions: hydrogenation, hydration, halogenation, sufonation, and nitration.

The student and I started our session today with a reading passage followed by some multiple choice questions. She did a great job reading and sounding out words she didn't know. Then we did some story problems, which she's getting very good at -- she knows how to identify the important numbers and either write an equation with addition or subtraction, or draw a picture. Then we learned some new Spanish words related to emotions (happy, sad, lonely, nervous, etc.). She was having a hard time focusing at first, but once she concentrated, she did a really great job sounding out the Spanish words she couldn't remember!

Today the tutoring consisted primarily with studying for her test on Thursday, going through definitions, the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, more about mutation and survival chances with population genetics, and going through her review packet. After this session, the student seemed more confident with the material.
