We covered several sections of his homework. The student was able to solve most of the problems due to the tutoring work we did over the summer.

The student learned how to greet others in formal and informal situations, and ask someone's name. They also learned how to ask how someone is doing and say goodbye. Students practiced the conversation via role playing, and then participated in some yes or no questioning with the tutor so help acquire structures.

We worked on long and short vowels in English and reviewed the homework that she had done, categorizing them.

The student had an argumentative essay he needed help writing. We discussed the rhetorical strategies pathos, logos, and ethos; and analyzed examples of them in The Odyssey. We also discussed the writing process including thesis development, creating outlines, selecting and expanding on evidence for the thesis, and paper structuring. We also worked on making a comprehensive outline of his essay so he had something to guide his writing.

The student and I met for the second session and covered Leccion Numero Uno from the text we are using after he worked through the lesson as homework. We discussed any questions he had regarding the lesson and addressed accents and pronunciation. We also covered ER/IR verb conjugation in the present tense, personal pronouns, memorization/ study strategies, note taking and organizing vocabulary. We reviewed new vocabulary and cognates/ false cognates as well as common patterns with cognates. He did great with vocabulary and pronunciation. He also picked up present tense conjugation very quickly and realized he has some recollection of the subjunctive tense and future tense conjugations as well. He is self correcting often and is asking the right questions such as "Why did you use para then instead of por?" or "When do I use ser vs estar?" So we will begin diving into these grammar lessons soon!

We covered circular motion, centripetal forces, and the basic concept of work. The student also wanted to review a couple of questions that she had missed on a previous quiz. She asked about the derivation for centripetal acceleration in terms of velocity and radius, and I told her that I would write it out and email it to her. She will let me know if she has questions.
