Through my experience as a substitute teacher I was able to gain familiarity with content of elementary and middle school subject matter. This allows me as a tutor to assist students in skills that re-enforce their learning not just in one area but in all. I have experience in common core pushing students to expand their close reading skills and defend their point of view.

As a tutor I also know that students who are engaged in fun, authentic activities will be much more engaged in their learning. As a tutor I know that getting to know the students I tutor and bringing their interests into their learning also assists in learning.
