That everything can be learned!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know the students and what their weaknesses are in a particular subject so that I can help them better understand it.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Give them homework or things to think about in regards to the lesson at hand, and then they can come back to me with what they had learned.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would try different avenues in teaching, i.e. worksheets, pictures, videos, stories, etc.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Let them read things they are interested in first, and then we can branch off into other topics.
