I'd start from the basic and also use different tools.

I will start by helping them to build their vocabulary and also develop a routine of reading a newspaper daily.

Finding his weakness and developing a different strategy that can help him improve on a certain area.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I'd find the beauty; the reason why it is important to learn that subject and how important it will be later on.

By giving some practice questions and finding their weaknesses.

If a student has certain difficulties, I use different methods such as study guides, worksheets, etc.

I use electronic devices, and different pen or pencil colors.
