For over a decade, I have been passionate about combining my love for physics and medicine, particularly in the realm of cancer care. Currently, I am a radiation oncology medical physics resident at MD Anderson Cancer Center (ranked #1 for cancer care worldwide). Prior to this, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Georgia Tech and Emory University Department of Biomedical Engineering (ranked #2 for graduate level biomedical engineering). My PhD, which I completed at Virginia Tech and Wake Forest University in Biomedical Engineering, focused on developing a new cancer therapeutic technology called Irreversible Electroporation, which uses pulsed electric fields to safely target unresectable tumors in sensitive areas. Additionally, I hold a Master of Science degree in Medical Physics from Duke University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics with minors in Biology and Mathematics from Elon University.

I have been tutoring on this platform since 2017 and bring a wide array of teaching and tutoring experience. During my undergraduate years, I tutored college physics courses and served as a Teaching Assistant for physics and engineering courses. With my background, I possess a high level of competency in upper-level mathematics and physics. Growing up bilingual in a Cuban/Colombian household has also given me proficiency in Spanish.

Beyond academic subjects, I am passionate about professional and academic mentorship. I have helped mentees craft applications that secured them positions in PhD programs, medical school, and summer internships. I have also mentored graduate students, assisting them in planning roadmaps for their theses and dissertations, and guiding them through their first publications and presentations. With over 20 peer-reviewed articles published and numerous invitations to present at both domestic and international conferences, I am eager to share my knowledge and help others achieve academic and professional success.

I believe that students learn more effectively from peers, as we share an understanding of the resources available for academic assistance. Being recently out of the same academic journey most of you are on now, I am confident in my ability to understand and explain complex concepts in a simplified manner. Outside of academics, I have a deep love for music and was a vocalist and beatboxer for my college a cappella group!
