Learning can be fun!!!!

Hi, I'm Hope! I graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. During that time, I was a Teaching Assistant in a Special Education Kindergarten class for 7 years. I went on to pursue my Master's Degree in Reading and Writing from Manhattanville College. I worked in New York for 3 years as a Third-grade teacher, teaching Everyday Math and Guided Reading. I have been nominated twice to be in the book Who's Who in Teaching. I have received a second Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Educational Technology from Long Island University and a Gifted and Talented Extension Certificate. I am currently a Basic Skills Teacher in NJ for the last 3 years, last two years in fourth grade. I believe in enhancing children's abilities through fun, innovative, creative, motivational and visual learning techniques to engage students in active learning. A believer in 'never giving up' inspires children to reach beyond their present capacity to succeed in areas seemingly out of reach, ensuring strong and confident young learners.

I have tutored on and off for 10 years personally and through schools, with most of my experience in grades 3 and 4. I am experienced in tutoring math, reading and writing on the elementary level. I have previously tutored for the Special Education Summer Extension Program where I tutored students in reading and math from elementary school to middle school. The main thing I love about teaching and tutoring is the success and self-confidence my students get when they "get it". When you see a student grasp the idea or concept and smiles it is the best feeling in the world. I make math fun for the struggling students so they can understand the concept and not feel discouraged.
