I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with a Spanish minor and a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate. I have been teaching and tutoring in a number of different capacities for about 10 years, since I was in high school. I started out as a volunteer, walking over to the middle school at the end of the day to assist students who needed help with their classwork. As a high achieving student in high school math, a teacher paired me up to work one on one with a younger student to help them with their algebra 1 homework. During college I continued seeking out tutoring opportunities. I volunteered at the local Saturday Morning Tutoring sessions held at a nearby church, where K-12 students from surrounding communities would come to get help with their homework. Later, I privately tutored a 5th grade student in all subjects, from science and social studies to reading and english. My most intensive teaching/tutoring experience is from earlier this year, where I served as an AmeriCorps member for six months assisting underserved elementary school students with homework after school. This past summer I led a crew of high school students at a National Wildlife Refuge, teaching them about invasive plants, ecology, and how to maintain trails.
