I am a graduate of Eckerd College with a B.S. in Marine Science and Environmental Studies with a focus in biology. There, I was a TA in Chemical and Physical Oceanography and Environmental Economics. Eckerd's Marine Science program is interdisciplinary, so I have experience in general biology courses, like Genetics, and more specialized, marine-focused courses, such as Marine Invertebrate Biology. While I tutor a range of science subjects, I most enjoy Biology, Zoology, Ecology, and Biological Oceanography.

I am also confident in tutoring in English and Essay Writing. I worked at Eckerd's student newspaper, The Current, for four years, three of which as an editor. I have experience with AP, MLA, and science writing styles, such as for lab reports. I am happy to work with students in any point of the writing process to help them strengthen their thesis statement and supporting points. My preferred style is to work through the editing process with my client to help them understand why I'm making the suggestions and how to apply them to future writing assignments.

My teaching style uses a targeted approach and hands-on work to help students understand these challenging subjects. I like to use my internship and research experiences to provide real examples of how concepts discussed in lectures apply to conducting science experiments and interacting with the natural world. For example, I interned at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University studying the effects of nutrient cycling on nutrient cycling to DNA of marine microbes, which has helped me with explaining difficult concepts in Genetics. I hope to use my class and research opportunities to make learning science fun!
