I am an active outdoor enthusiast and enjoy long distance bike touring, camping, cross country skiing, canoeing, fly fishing and most of all, paragliding! As a mountaineer in Alaska in the 1980's, I helped pioneer the development of the new sport of paragliding. I became one of the first certified instructors in the country and paragliding has become a life long passion. I have also worked as an outdoor educator, naturalist and guide for 35 years. This includes working as a ski instructor and glacier guide, as well as an advanced paragliding instructor. I worked at the REI (Recreational Equipment Inc.) in Anchorage, Alaska for 16 years promoting an active outdoor lifestyle and educating customers on outdoor gear and equipment. I love the outdoors! My favorite indoor sport is chess. I started playing as a young boy and enjoyed going to chess tournaments with my father and competing against adults. As teacher, I founded chess clubs at three different schools in Alaska. I enjoy teaching chess to students of all ages.
