I am passionate about teaching students simply because I enjoy helping students learn! It can become very easy to become lost in content areas like mathematics, or language courses like Spanish, and I want to be able to become a resource where students can feel connected to the content and even try to enjoy it.

I graduated from St. Olaf Liberal Arts College and recieved my bachelors degree in Mathematics. My specialty areas are Mathematics and Education and am currently seeking licensure to further pursue teaching as a career.

I have had quite a few opportunities to work with high school students and even elementary students. I have worked at a local high school and worked under many mathematics teachers where I provided the students with additional help and support. I am also bilingual, and am very fluent in both English and Spanish. I've been privileged with opportunities to tutor and teach students in both languages, and am always willing to adapt in areas where I may lack.

If my previous statements haven't given it away, my favorite subject to tutor is mathematics! I enjoy solving problems and always have enjoyed the process. Solving math problems is like solving a puzzle; it can become very rewarding once you figure things out.

When it comes to teaching, a philosophy of mine would be "Failure is not an end, but a route to success". In mathematics, there will be many times when you will feel lost and feel like giving up, though I believe that creating an environment that is failure tolerant allows for more growth. In terms of my teaching style, I enjoy collaborating with my students in finding solutions instead of providing them them with formulas and answers. I like to break the content with a guided example, and then more examples where they can attempt on their own. I am aware that many students learn in different ways, and through sessions and reoccurrence with students, I can adapt and learn what works best for both of us, which leads to a successful and productive learning experience.
