I graduated from University in the summer of 2021 after completing my master's year under the difficult regulations of lockdown. Upon completion, I decided to take some time off to travel once the restrictions were lifted and have since worked as a private tutor for a range of students, teaching maths and science from primary school to undergraduate level. I opted to work as a self-employed tutor as it allowed me the autonomy and freedom to choose my clients and working hours, giving me the ability to pursue hobbies alongside my working life.
I started tutoring in Year 11 when a family friend wanted some help with their children's maths. I ran weekly sessions with two students that covered the areas of the syllabus they struggled with, along with assistance in Chemistry and Physics. From this, I took on more clients through recommendations and continued tutoring after school throughout my A-Levels. While studying at university I worked through the Physics A-Level syllabus remotely with a student who has since gone on to study physics at university. I have experience tailoring my services to students with different needs, having worked with autistic and dyslexic children.
I currently have 1-to-1 students in GCSE and A-Level as well as small group sessions preparing students for the 11+ exam. I particularly enjoy finding different ways of explaining solutions that the student can understand and I believe my background of mathematics provides me with a large well of knowledge and understanding to draw from. The majority of my experience in both tutoring and coaching is with children and young adults.
