I have 35+ years of experience teaching and tutoring PreK through 6th grade. I have directed and tutored in a few AfterSchool programs and I last started an AfterSchool program in the Community Center where I worked for 16 years.
I have an Associates in Early Childhood Education; a Bachelors in Child Studies psychology. I wanted to learn how children learn and how to help them succeed. My Masters is in Business Management as the CC was a non-profit agency. This helped me know best how to support the families in my program.
I love teaching Elementary English and Math, and mostly Reading. I believe Reading is the Key to Successful Learning.
My philosophy is that I must walk with the child to see where their skills are and then I can guide them to move forward. I use basic tools of repetition, simple games, and challenges.
My hobbies are reading, gardening, pets and walking. One day I hope I will have chickens in my backyard!
