With both a bachelor's and master's degree in math, as well as 5 years of teaching experience in math and science, I can certainly help you reach your goals.

My experience in teaching spans 5 and a half years, and includes 3 and a half years at the university level and 2 years at the K-12 level. As a graduate student at Clemson University, I was initially a teaching assistant for several courses over the span of a year and a half, including differential equations, calculus, and statistics. After a promotion, I taught undergraduate statistics for 1 year as well as calculus for 1 year.

After I graduated with my master's degree in mathematics and left academia, I taught at the K-12 level for 2 years, across various ages. I first was a substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools for 6 months, where I learned to apply my teaching knowledge to younger students. After a promotion to full time teacher, I taught AP Calculus and then subsequently Algebra II/Trigonometry, over the span of a year and a half.

My experience in both K-12 and University settings allows me the insight to know what exactly your teachers and/or standardized tests are looking for as answers, as well as how to best teach a student. Additionally, my deep and broad mathematical background gives me the requisite perspective to be able to confidently understand and present similar material at simplified level, and allows me to clearly see connections in the material. This perspective allows me to focus less on details of individual problems and more on how to problem solve in general, to the benefit of student growth and autonomy.
