I am passionate about helping students discover their own problem-solving strengths and build confidence in their ability to learn. Learning is not just about mastering contentit's about developing habits of mind that help us navigate a complex world. For me, tutoring is an opportunity to support that process with patience, creativity, and a genuine respect for how each student thinks.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Pure and Applied Mathematics, with a strong foundation in algebra, number theory, analysis, combinatorics, and proof-writing. I've worked with students of many ages in both formal and informal settings, from helping my own children work through challenging math concepts to teaching in the middle school curriculum. I am especially drawn to topics that combine logical reasoning with creativity, such as algebra and problem-solving strategies, and I enjoy helping students uncover the underlying structure of what they're learning.

My teaching style is flexible and student-centered. I aim to listen carefully, identify where understanding begins to break down, and offer clear, intuitive explanations that help students reconnect with the material. I strive to model the kind of curiosity and persistence I want to inspire in my students.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring connections between mathematics, cognitive science, and philosophy, as well as spending time with my family and learning alongside my children. I believe education is a lifelong process, and I love being part of that journey for others.

Hobbies

When I’m not tutoring, I’m often outside with my kids and our puppy, Phoenix. She’s playful, curious, and endlessly entertaining—watching her learn about the world (and watching my kids learn from her) is one of the joys of daily life. I also love cooking, especially when I can find a recipe my whole family enjoys. Music is another big part of my life. I compose when I can, and I’m always exploring new sounds—lately I’ve been diving into hard bop, revisiting Bach’s music with fresh ears, and admiring the intensity and precision of bands like Tool. I enjoy tracing the connections between music, math, and thought, and I'm often following that same thread in books about science, learning, or philosophy. At heart, I’m someone who loves figuring things out—whether it's a recipe, a melody, a learning strategy, or a pattern in nature. I try to bring that same spirit of curiosity and care into the work I do with students.
