I recently took the DAT getting a 21 in the top 8 percentile in the nation on September 11, 2019. Since I can remember, I always had a passion to help people and being in an environment that has interactions with individuals. I prefer not to be in a profession that works alone. I enjoy volunteering in the community and also spent time volunteering my time in high school through the Boy Scouts of America. I stayed active in scouts and achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. I enjoy the outdoors from fishing to skiing. I have hiked the North Carolina Mountains as well as backpacked through New Mexico two different summers at Philmont Scout Ranch. My interest in dentistry became even greater since I have volunteered at nine Mission of Mercy dental clinics over the past five years. This gave me the opportunity to help assist dentists and dental students in extremely interesting cases close up. I also made a few friends with the current dental students and dentists in North Carolina during my time at these clinics. I understand that it will take a lot of dedication and time in dental school to achieve my goals. I am willing to put forth that effort.
I have now become a Teacher Assistant for three years in Organic Chemistry plus a tutor at the NCSU tutorial center. Also, I am a stockroom assistant in the chemistry laboratory which has shown me all the variety of chemicals a lab has to offer. I have graded hundreds of student organic chemistry tests which have kept me updated on all my chemistry classes I have taken. I have begun academic research at NC State Chemistry Laboratories and further sparked my interest in the field of research. I have even became involved and appeared in the organic tutorial videos used by students. At the end of the third year in my undergraduate studies, I realized that I only needed 10 more hours to graduate, so I realized that I would finish school early. I took the GRE and went on to complete my Masters of Physiology. Then I recently took the DAT getting a 21 in the top 8 percentile in the nation again. I am seeking a position to tutor part time until I go to dental school next year.
